Every day is a fresh opportunity!
Today in our GPS session we have been exploring prefixes;
have a go at the following questions:
A prefix is a word that makes a root word a hole new word E.G dis+connect =disconnect
Excellent work Phoebe, can you explain the difference between connect and disconnect?
Connect means to join something together E.G a glue stick lid and glue stick you would connect them.To disconnect means to seperate something pull the glue stick lid and the glue stick away from each other.
I realised that my first comment was wrong so I’m doing a new one – a prefix is were you put a word at the start of the word EG (this is a bit like my second answer) un + popular = unpopular
Un means the opposite of real word itself. Mis means no following an instruction or other things like that.pre means like lower or before.Oh just to point out you have already done un.
1 Some thing that goes at the beginning of a word to start of a word or a sentence
2 It helps us spell so that we can spell correct enjoy are lessons.
3 Sub -it means going under
Un – means the opposite like happy and unhappy so dose mis
A prefix is where it changes the word sometimes to the opposite and sometimes it changes the word completely for e.g here are some of the prefixes that are used:
Dis,
Un,
Re,
In,
Mis.
When making a prefix you put the extra few letters in front of the root word.?
A prefix is some letters that are added to the start of a word and makes a new word like.
Market , add super is Supermarket
