Homework 23rd September

I was very impressed this week with the spelling and times table test results, the vast majority of children have clearly practiced at home over the past week. Keep up the fantastic work!

Homeschooling - How to Teach Your Child Spelling Words – Reading Eggs

This week I have managed to navigate the Purple Mash website and I have added a interactive resource for the children to access to practice their spellings. Just in-case there’s any hiccups, please see the lists below:

Year 5

illuminate
admiration
foundation
forgotten
gardening
great
grate
fascinate
expression
possession

Year 4

heel

meddle

Times Tables Rock Stars: Play

For Multiplication, I ask that each child spends sometime over the course of the week practicing their multiplication skills using the Times Table Rock Stars website. This is important for both Year 4 and 5 children as these skills are used across the curriculum; however it must be noted that if your child is in Year 4, the government are intending to continue with the Year 4 multiplication assessment this academic year and a little bit of practice each week would be beneficial.

Next Wednesday I will be testing the children on their knowledge of the 4x table.

This online resource can be very helpful with learning timetables:

Homework Week

Welcome back to school!

It has been wonderful having children back in school over the past week and seeing them express so much enthusiasm towards their learning. To ease the children back into completing homework this week I am only going to set multiplication and spelling homework.

Homeschooling - How to Teach Your Child Spelling Words – Reading Eggs

Generally, I will set the spellings this year using PurpleMash (all children have their own login – if your child cannot remember it, do not hesitate to get in touch with the office and they will supply the details to you or send a note in with your child). Unfortunately, due to a technical glitch I am unable to set the spellings using Purple Mash this week therefore the spellings are listed below:

Year 4:

groan
grown
affect
effect
fair
fare
great
grate
through
threw

Year 5

optician
pyramid
trouble
country
incomplete
peace
piece
vein
weigh
parachute

Some children will receive a different list to the one shown above (please check your child’s book bag)
