Homework – English and Theme

Next week in English and Theme we will commence our Persuasive Writing unit. We will be looking at Palm Oil and the impact it has on the environment.

Palm oil is a type of edible vegetable oil that is derived from the palm fruit, grown on the African oil palm tree. Oil palms are originally from Western Africa, but can flourish wherever heat and rainfall are abundant. Today, palm oil is grown throughout Africa, Asia, North America, and South America.

Task:

Palm Oil is used in a wide variety of house hold products.

Find and list 10 products in the home that contain palm oil.

Challenge: On a separate sheet of paper (single side) create an information sheet which details the impact that palm oil has on the environment and the products it may be found in.

Kind regards

Mr Mallison

Happy New Year!

Good Evening,

May I wish you all a Happy New School Year! After a long rest over the summer break it was extremely refreshing to welcome the new Class 4 back to Brandesburton Primary School today.

The children entered the classroom with gusto and have been a pleasure to work with; I am very much looking forward to working with them over the course of the year. Congratulations must be given to the children with regards to the hard work they carried out today; I was tremendously impressed with the Crayon stories that the children wrote (inspired by The Day the Crayons Came Home), in addition to the tenacity of the children in relation to the maths work that we completed.  To round the day off we took part in a drumming sessions which all the children thrived in letting off steam and creating a magnificent sound.

Throughout the remainder of the week we will be carrying out team building exercises in PE; commencing work on our theme, “Tree Top Adventure” as well as carrying out Art work in relation to Henri Rousseau.

Finally, please keep an eye of the blog for electronic copies of the homework in addition to spellings and further challenges to complete at home which relate to work we are carrying out in school.

Enjoy your evening,

Mr Mallison
