Christmas break!!

I would like to start by saying thank you to year 5. YOU HAVE BEEN AMAZING!

Year 5 have put their everything into this first term and I couldn’t be more proud, I have seen every child grow and gain in confidence. Class 4 is such a nice place to be at the moment and I put that down to the children and their ability to make me smile and laugh every single day. The work that year 5 have produced this term get me excited for the rest of the year and to be able to see what the children are going to produce.

On a personal note I would like to say thank you to the children for making my first term as a teacher so enjoyable and amazing I couldn’t have wished for a better start to my career.

As it is the season of giving I am giving the children time to relax and recharge so there will be no homework for this term.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

From Mr Trott and Mrs Cammack

Week 13- Recap

What a week! The class have impressed me so much, this week we did our geography field trip and they were absolutely amazing, so sensible, so mature and so helpful. I can not sing their praises high enough. Our reading percentage was 90% this week and our attendance was also very good considering it’s this close to Christmas.

I have discussed the spellings with the class as there will be a blind test this week on all the spellings we have done so far so the children know what to revise

If the children could please have ready for Monday a descriptive piece of work. This could be anything  as long as it describes a thing/per.

Also for the maths homework could the children please complete 20 minutes over the weekend on Timestable rockstars. This will help them in their maths next week.

If there are any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me on trotta@brandesburton.eroding.net

Many Thanks,

Mr Trott

Week 12 – Recap

A week full of ups and downs! The Class have really impressed me this week with their bounce back. Our reading percentage is super consistent with a score of 96% again so well done! As a class this week we have really flourished and found out a lot about each other, the children have shown me their resilience and their desire to put forward their best work at all times ( which as a teacher is all I can wish for).

Spellings – Next week I am going to challenge the children on an array of spellings that we have been focusing on through out this half term. The reason I am doing this is because the spelling test scores are the best scores I have seen so a challenge is in order!

Homework for this week.

Next week the children will be taking part in their persuasive writing piece about Brandesburton. I have given the children the opportunity over the weekend to get some persuasive techniques about Brandesburton sorted. This will make their writing on Monday a little easier ( this is due for Monday )

We are currently doing fractions in our maths. I have attached two hyperlinks to a few fraction games for the children to attempt. I haven’t sent out sheets for the children as they have been doing these all week and I figured a different method could help. https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/math/fractions/equivalent-splat-game/

Once again if you do have any queries, questions or you would like some more work, please give me an e-mail on trotta@brandesburton.eriding.net

Many Thanks,

Mr Trott,

Week 11 – Recap

Another really good week from class 4 this week. Our reading percentage improved to 96% and our attendance was 95%. I have really pushed year 5 this week and they have done nothing but impress me. Also, our highest ever 10/10 on spellings with 88% of the class getting 10. As our English unit is persuasive writing the children have been designing a dragons den pitch on an “ideal location” to send Mr. Trott. I am super excited to see where I will be jetting off to so make sure you are all focused on that next week!

Homework:

As the children have really put their all into this week I have kept the homework minimal. Next week we are starting a new math’s unit “fractions” I would like the children to fill in an A4 piece of paper with their knowledge of fractions, this will be due Tuesday so I can see where the children are at.

Once again if you do have any queries, questions or you would like some more work, please give me an e-mail on trotta@brandesburton.eriding.net

Homework

For Monday can the children please bring in one ( two if possible but one is ok) example of persuasive writing. This could be a leaflet from where they have recently been or a poster they have seen. I also have a little challenge for the children. This is to try and find how many numbers are both squared numbers and cubed numbers. The children can bring this in anytime before Thursday.

Once again if you do have any queries, questions or you would like some more work, please give me an e-mail on trotta@brandesburton.eriding.net

Many Thanks,

Mr Trott,

Week 9 – Recap

Another action packed week in year 5 this week! Unfortunately the reading score was not as amazing as usual with only 75% ( this is good but not the usual for class 4) Our attendance was amazing as usual so thank you to the children for that.

Homework

As the children got away with no homework last week there are 2 pieces this week. Their first piece is to choose their favourtie character from a book/film/TV series and explain this character. This should include the way they look, the way they act and the way they behave. The children should be including similes, metaphors, adjectives and any other way they can add description to this. Their other piece of homework is the math sheet they will be bringing home about “Factors”. I would still like the children to be spending 5-10 minutes a day on Times Table Rockstar’s and minimum 3 reads for Friday.

Once again if you do have any queries, questions or you would like some more work, please give me an e-mail on trotta@brandesburton.eriding.net

Many Thanks,

Mr Trott,

Week 7 – Recap

Half term!! Class 4 have been blown me away this half term. The effort the class has put in never fails to impress me.

This week we have been really focusing on Art. It has been a really hard but enjoyable week and the final pieces look FANTASTIC (photo’s to follow on twitter)

Over the week off

Over the next week there is a number of things the children can be focusing on. I have sent some math’s home for the children to complete, this is so they are ready for the end of unit test when we come back ( this is optional, however it will really help ). There is also some English the children have to do for the Monday we come back, this will be to describe a setting they have seen/been to over the holidays. This should include:2x Similes, 2x Metaphors, 2x Personification and all of the senses. If this could be e-mailed to me or just a photo this would be fantastic. The children all have their Times Table Rockstar passwords so 5 minutes a day would be amazing.

Homework
As a school we are really pushing TT Rockstar’s, we are currently in a “battle” with class 3. As everyone in class 4 knows, Mr. Trott hates losing so I would love for the children to be really pushing their TT knowledge this week! I would also like the children to do some research regarding the “Bronze Age” I would like the children to find out what advancements in technology happened between the Bronze age and the Iron age, this needs to be done before Thursday next week.

I will be posting on Twitter every week showing what we have been up to and what peoples work looks like so feel free to have a look.

Many Thanks and have a lovely weekend!

Mr. Trott

Homework

I have sent a “White rose” sheet home with the children. This is some of the things we have been covering in math this week. This has already been done so the children should be able to do this. This is due in next Wednesday. If the children would like to do a setting description of their favourtie place they can but this isn’t homework, this is just to help their writing.

I have received some photos of the children reading our book which look amazing but if you are still yet to send a picture my e-mail is trotta@brandesburton.eriding.net.

I will be posting on Twitter every week showing what we have been up to and what peoples work looks like so feel free to have a look.

Many Thanks and have a lovely weekend!
