Good Afternoon Class 4!
I hope I find you well on what should have been the first day of the spring term in school, however despite not being in school our learning journey will start in earnest tomorrow. I have to admit this is not the way in which I expected us to be welcoming in the new year. However, I would like to take this opportunity to say I hope you had a wonderful Christmas break and to say a massive thank-you for the extremely generous gifts (thank-you cards are waiting for when we are all back in school together).
To ensure that we continue with our learning I will upload a post to the blog each day containing activities for the day. Additionally, I will share examples of the work I receive so that we can celebrate our achievements. It is really important to check the blog each day and post responses using Seesaw so that I can keep a track of what you have been up to and provide additional support where needed.I must however stress the importance of internet safety, please see the video below (a reminder of the unit we completed in school at the start of the year):

Buried Treasure
Our leaning theme for his term is, “Buried Treasure”. Upon first read of the title, one may think that we will be studying pirates! Alas, we won’t be hoisting the skull and cross bones above the Jolly Rodger. However, we will be studying great adventurers and settlers in the form of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. Collectively, we will investigate light and sound in Science as well as child-led investigations of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, exploring where they originated from, how they traveled here, how they lived and the impact that they had on the United Kingdom. We will commence our work on Buried Treasure from next week, therefore this will we will complete some activities linked to Christmas that we would have completed had we been in school. It is my intention to use this week for us all to get used to remote learning and sharing our work via Seesaw and then we will be prepared to commence our theme from Monday.

Happy New Year Lily! I love the Jorvik Viking Centre! Especially the part where you go on the ride around the viking village. I’m glad to hear that you are looking forward to learning about the Vikings.
