Good Morning Class 4, I hope I find you well as we slip and slide into Tuesday.
Summary of Today’s Tasks
- Maths – Multiplication
- English
- Guided Reading
- Theme – Runes
Maths
Today we will be recapping our written multiplication skills, I have even filmed myself teaching! One thing I have learnt from the video is that I have clearly added an extra few pounds (by a few – a lot) during lock-down and I have no idea why I have kept my right arm so rigid throughout the video (hopefully they will improve, both my weight and my positioning).
Step 1: Watch the video below.
Step 2: Complete the fluency questions.
Step 3: Select a suitable starting point for the word problems (you do not have to complete the entire pack).
English
Today in English we are going to be continuing our work on Kennings Poetry, please watch the video below for information on Kennings and the activitiy. I’ve also included a copy of the presentation as a pdf on seesaw (I accept the video could have done with being zoomed in further).
Task:
Step 1) To warm you up, I would like you to have a go at guessing the subjects on the mini-quiz that I have posted to seesaw.
Step 2) Use the basic planning sheet on seesaw to plan your kennings about Grendel; remember the format, noun-verb. For an extra challenge can you use the same suffix on each verb?
Step 3) Write out your kennings as explained in the video.
Guided Reading
I have added an Anglo-Saxon themed reading comprehension activity pack onto seesaw for you to have a look at. I had to upload it as one pack and the answers are on there, no peaking!!!!!!! They are for your adult to read if needed.
Choose a suitable starting point, do not answer all of the questions. 1 star is the easiest, 3 stars is the hardest.
Theme
For our theme lesson we are going to be learning all about Runes;
Step 1: Watch the video below to learn all about Runes (I have included a copy of the presentation as a PDF below, this will allow you to view the runic alphabet – page 5 and to view the activities – page 12.
Step 2: Complete all three activities.
