The Best Good Morning Images | Inspire a Better Day

Good Morning Class 4!

I hope I find you all well this morning and ready for another wonderful day of activities. The quality of the work that you are sending over to me is getting better and better each day!

Here are some examples of the tasks that were sent into me yesterday:

An amazing pop-up card created by Cody over the weekend!

Guided Reading

I would like to start the day with guided reading and we will be exploring chapter 10. To begin with, please watch the video below and then answer the questions:

Questions,

Submitting your work:

Either, type your answers into the notepad feature on seesaw (preferred option) or write your answers on paper and take a photo (remember to zoom in so that I can see your work) and save into the home-learning folder.

Don’t forget to include the date and I can statement.

GPS

Today in our GPS session we are going to explore compound sentences using the resources from Oakwood:

If you would like to share your work with me please feel free to take a picture or use the notepad on seesaw. Remember to write the date and name of the activity you are completing e.g. I can identify and explore compound sentences.

Maths

For maths we are going to split into our separate year groups, please see below. However to get us warmed up I would like you to spend 5 minutes on the countdown numbers game (If you want to you can share your answers on seesaw).

I will share a solution tomorrow.

Year 5: Cubed numbers.

Before the Christmas break we explored squared numbers. Therefore our next step is to explore cubed numbers, we can remember that 2 squared is equal to 2×2. Cubed numbers are very similar, checkout this handy guide:

Activity: to be found on seesaw. I have included the answers, but these are not for you to look at, they are for your adult at home! No peeking, I will know!

Year 4: Multiplying 3 numbers.

I have found this superb resource from the BBC that will help you with your learning.

If you want to you can have a go at the quiz to start with, but it’s the video that is the key resource. If you have permission from home you can have a go at the game once you have completed all of the work.

Activity: After you have watched the video and read the information below (only if needed) you will find some activities on seesaw. I have included the answers, but these are not for you to look at, they are for your adult at home! No peeking, I will know!

Art

The Anglo-Saxons were superb at arts and crafts therefore there are many different things we can learn from them; find out more below:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zxsbcdm/articles/zwjq2hv

I believe that we should have a go at many different Anglo-Saxons crafts whilst we are learning from home. But our first activity will be pottery!

This will require help from an adult. but don’t panic it will not require the purchase of clay or any specialist equipment, simply a few store cupboard ingredients:

1 cup of plain flour

1/2 cup of salt.

1/2 cup of water.

Method:

Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Slowly add the water until the mixture comes together into a ball.

Note: If you feel like you don’t have enough dough, simply repeat the above process.

I would now like you to shape your dough into one of the following items (putting your own spin onto it of course):

Next you will need to ask an adult to bake your design in the oven.

Pre-heat your oven to 120 degrees C.

Line a baking tray with baking paper

Carefully place your design onto the baking paper and bake for 2 hours.

NON-COOKING METHOD

Leave in a warm place and it will become hard on its own (may take up to two days).

Once set you can paint your design if you wish to do so.

How to submit: Take a suitable image and post onto seesaw.

Music.

Your final task for the day is to complete a music lesson. In school we would have been continue with our learning using the resources of Charanga, but unfortunately, these do not lend themselves very well to home learning. Therefore I have found this wonderful lesson from the government’s National Academy. The unit is based upon Duration and the first lesson focuses on Pulse, which is what we would have covered at school.

Feel free to share any photos onto seesaw.

Extension Activities:

Once again I have included some extension activities on seesaw (I’ve also added sound instructions, I know check me out, I.T. whizz!).

Home-Learning: Tuesday 12th January
